The Northern Maritime Powerhouse, digitalisation in ports, coastal shipping and the importance of maritime clusters will all be debated by a high-quality line up of speakers at a major maritime conference being held next month as part of the International Business Festival in Liverpool.
The International Maritime Forum, organised by Shipping Innovation, creator of London International Shipping Week, is designed to spark lively debate among key ports, shippers and supply chain leaders, with top level speakers lined up to debate these important issues on 21st June.
The conference, which will be titled: The Northern Maritime Powerhouse: Driving global trade post-Brexit, will look at how digitalisation and increased connectivity can enhance processes and drive innovation to boost global trade. It will also discuss blockchain technologies and Big Data in the context of streamlining shipping and port operations to the lasting benefit of the end-users as well as the importers and exporters.
Shipping Innovation is delighted to count among its line up of speakers H.E. Daniel Fábrega, the Republic of Panama’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization.
The first session ‘Driving Global Trade’ will be opened by Patrick Verhoeven, Managing Director of Policy and Strategy at the International Association of Ports and Harbors. He will joined by Mr Fábrega; Richard Ballantyne, Chief Executive of British Ports Association; Luc Arnouts, Director International Networks, Port of Antwerp and Mark Woodhead, Senior Vice-President for Europe, Middle East and Africa at KVH Industries.
Martin Stopford, President, Clarkson Research, will discuss why the UK needs to invest in an innovative coastal shipping sector. The session will be concluded with a panel debate, chaired by Sean Moloney, Director of Shipping Innovation.
A key session during the day will focus on why maritime clusters have become so important, and will include presentations from Dick Welsh, Director at the Isle of Man Registry; Chris Shirling-Rooke, CEO, Mersey Maritime; Mark O’ Reily, CEO & Chairman of Team Humber Marine Alliance and Colin Lavelle, Legal Director at Hill Dickinson Liverpool.
Isle of Man Maritime is delighted to be the Gold Sponsor of this year’s International Maritime Forum, tickets for which are £125 and include a light lunch and refreshments. They also include a complimentary festival pass which provides access to all nine days of the International Business Festival.
